Overview

Berlin’s cutting-edge architecture and futuristic designs make it an excellent destination for Design & Technology trips.

When it comes to creativity, the sky’s the limit in Europe’s newest start-up capital.  In the last 20 years, the city has reinvented itself into an up-and-coming technology hub.

Your students can visit the striking TV Tower that was the flagship of East German architecture, and explore the history of technology at the Deutsches Technikmuseum.  The avant-garde creations that put Berlin on the design map are on display at the Bauhaus Archive, and you can gain an insight into a high-tech production line at the BMW motorbike plant.

Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Morning flight to Berlin from the UK and transfer to accommodation.

    Admire the murals of the East Side Gallery, a preserved section of the Berlin Wall painted as an "International Memorial for Freedom" by protest Artists.

    Spend some time exploring Alexanderplatz - a classic example of the East German 'Plattenbau' architectural style.

    Take in panoramic views of the city from the top of the TV Tower, the flagship of East German architecture.

  2. Day 2

    Discover the cultural history of technology at the Deutsches Technikmuseum.

    Visit the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, a disorienting Holocaust memorial made up of 2711 concrete slabs in wave-like, undulating formations.

    Photo opportunity at the iconic Brandenburg Gate before a visit to the Reichstag Building - its enormous glass dome and spiral walkway are an engineering feat!

  3. Day 3

    Take a look behind the scenes at the BMW plant and watch how their impressive cars and motorbikes are produced.

    Be inspired by the collection of avant-garde paintings, drawings, sculptures, models and more at the Bauhaus Archive.

    Flight back to the UK.
