Bruges Christmas Markets

Overview

Pop over to Belgium to get yourself in the Christmas spirit at Bruges’ fantastic Christmas Markets! You'll find charming wooden chalets that surround a glistening ice-skating rink at Grote Markt. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale, with twinkling lights and the smells of lots of delicious treats!

You’ll also have the chance to visit Choco-Story, and learn about the production of chocolate.  Then burn off the tasty samples by climbing to the top of the Belfry, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the city.

Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Depart school and travel to Bruges.

    Start your trip with an excellent guided tour of Choco-Story.  No visit to Belgium would be complete without tasting its chocolate; learn about its production, and (of course!) sample the final product.

    Then spend some time exploring Bruges’ Christmas Markets.  It will be impossible not to start feeling festive as you explore the pretty wooden chalets and take in the delicious smells of waffles!

    Arrive and settle into your accommodation.

  2. Day 2

    Begin your day by climbing to the top of the Belfry – the striking tower stands at 83 metres high and you will be rewarded with a stunning view of the city from the top.

    Wrap up warm before heading onto the canals with a guided boat trip. From the picturesque canals of Bruges, you can admire the city's most beautiful sites and Christmas lights from a totally different angle. 

    Before you head home, have another wander around the Christmas Markets to pick up some souvenirs and enjoy a tasty treat.

    Return to School.
