Overview

The world’s northernmost capital is a small city with a big personality!  There’s a whole host of things to see and do here, to engage curious minds.  Reykjavík is an ideal place to immerse yourself in the unique, Icelandic way of life, discovering Vikings, fairies, volcanoes, and whales.

Many schools like to take a dip in the world-famous Blue Lagoon or try some Icelandic food at a local restaurant!

Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Morning flight from the UK to Reykjavik (Keflavik Airport).

    Optional activity: On your way to your accommodation, stop for a swim in the Blue Lagoon!  Blue-green algae and white silica mud give the water its milky, aquamarine colour.

    Board your coach and make your way to your accommodation.

    Spend some free time exploring Reykjavik.  Don’t miss Hallgrímskirkja Church, one of the city’s most famous landmarks.

  2. Day 2

    This morning, head to the National Museum of Iceland which provides an excellent overview of Iceland’s history, religion and culture.

    In the afternoon, enjoy a Sagas and Folk Tales Walking Tour!  A local storyteller will introduce you to Elves, Trolls and Ghosts, bringing these epic tales to life.

    Finally, take a guided tour of the Settlement Exhibition, a high-tech archaeological museum built on top of a Viking longhouse!

    Optional evening activity: Try some traditional Icelandic food at a local restaurant!

  3. Day 3

    Start your day with Vikingaheimar (Viking World). Walk around this extensive museum and see a replica Viking ship and settlement! 

    Next up is Whales of Iceland, a hands-on exhibition where you’ll be transported to an underwater world, get up-close to life-size models, and gain a new appreciation for these fascinating and beautiful animals.

    In the afternoon, take a guided tour of the Reykjavik Maritime Museum to learn just how much life in Iceland depends on the ocean.  Plus, the chance to climb aboard the Óðinn, a coastguard ship with its own stories to tell!

  4. Day 4

    On your final morning, climb up to the viewing deck of Perlan, an iconic domed building, for spectacular views over Reykjavik!

    Board your coach and catch your afternoon flight back to the UK.
