Diverse Stockholm!

Overview

Often thought of as a rather unknown land, those who visit Scandinavia are taken in by its stunning natural beauty, vibrant cities, outstanding modern architecture, excellent museums, and friendly and open-minded people. 

Stockholm certainly lives up to these expectations, and there are plenty of interesting cultural visits that will open the minds of your students.  A visit to the open-air museum, Skansen, will teach you all there is to know about Swedish history to the present day, and Stockholm's top visit, Vasamuseet, lets your students discover the only preserved seventeenth-century ship in the world.  Take a stroll through the old town, "Gamla Stan", or a boat trip to one of the archipelago islands, and maybe even visit the ABBA Museum!

There is also the option of designing the trip around a specific Swedish celebration, such as Midsommar or Christmas, so get in touch with us today to arrange a unique and exciting trip for your students.

Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Flight to Stockholm from the UK and transfer to accommodation.

    Get your bearings and learn about Stockholm's fascinating history with a guided walking tour of the city. 

    Go on a guided tour of Stadshuset, Stockholm's City Hall, an emblem of the city's architecture and host of the annual 10th December Nobel Prize banquet.

    Enjoy a traditional Swedish meal at a local restaurant.

  2. Day 2

    Visit the Vasa Museum.  Salvaged 133 years after it sunk, the 69 metre-long ship, The Vasa, is the only preserved seventeenth-century ship in the world.

    Experience the feeling of being the 5th member of Sweden's famous four at the interactive ABBA The Museum or experience the thrills and spills of Gröna Lund amusement park! (Grona Lund is open between May and September only.)

    Go on a journey through Swedish history and traditions at Skansen, the world's first and oldest open-air museum.  It also features a zoo with animals native to Scandinavia.  Join in with the Midsommar celebrations in June or visit the Christmas markets in December.

  3. Day 3

    Take a day trip to one of the Stockholm archipelago's 30,000 islands!  Each island has a unique character, although most are dotted with Swedish staples, such as picturesque red wooden cottages, dense forests, and swimming spots!

  4. Day 4

    Learn about Vikings and other Medieval History at the Swedish History Museum.

    Take a stroll along the narrow, winding cobblestone streets of Gamla Stan.  As well as endless shops, cafés and restaurants, it's also home to The Royal Palace of Stockholm, His Majesty the King's official residence.

    Flight back to the UK.
