Futuroscope and Poitiers

Overview

A highlight of any school trip to Western France has to be a full day spent at Futuroscope, the hi-tech theme park.  It is designed with education in mind and is one of France's most visited attractions. Situated in the heart of the superb Poitou-Charentes region of western France, Futuroscope offers a unique experience for any visiting school.

In addition to Futuroscope, there are lots of different visits in and around Poitiers.  With a rich Roman history, and many examples of Roman art, Poitiers possesses a truly exceptional architectural heritage.  Discover 2000 years of history as you stroll down the city streets, marvel at the impressive Notre-Dame la Grande Church and explore a local market, giving you a chance to practise some French!

Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Depart school and travel to Poitiers.

    Arrive at your accommodation and have some time to settle in.

  2. Day 2

    Spend the day at Futuroscope, the futuristic science amusement park, with attractions including Robotics, Species conservation, Cosmic Collisions, a study of energy sources in The Energy Garden and more.  This is more than just your average theme park, it’s an educational experience that will get students engaged through unforgettable attractions.

  3. Day 3

    Start your day with a Guided walking tour of Poitiers, this classic French provincial city.  This will give you the chance to visit the Notre-Dame la Grande Church, a majestic Roman Catholic Church.  The famous façade, carved in the first half of the 12th century, is of great intricate beauty.

    Then pop into Poitiers' indoor market, the Marché Notre-Dame to explore many different stalls selling local produce.  Have the chance to practise speaking some French!

    Spend the afternoon at the Grottes de la Norée, stunning natural caves just outside Poitiers.  Learn about the history of their discovery and the science behind the unusual formations.  

    OR

    Visit the Musée de Préhistoire and see exhibits that date back to prehistoric times including bones, tools, jewellery and tablets that have been engraved with drawings.

  4. Day 4

    Travel back to the UK.  Talk to us about making a stop at Disneyland Paris en route back!
