Geography in Cornwall

Overview

With its beautiful but rugged coastline, Cornwall is the perfect destination for Geography students.  It’s got sandy beaches, majestic castles and one of England’s best-loved attractions at Land’s End, where you’ll get breath-taking views and can go on exciting cliff-top trails.

You’ll have the opportunity to visit stunning gardens and, of course, a trip to Cornwall wouldn’t be complete without visiting the world-famous Eden Project, with a tropical and Mediterranean biome and very extensive outdoor grounds.

Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Depart School and travel to Cornwall.

    Start your trip with a walk along the sandy beach in Bude, a very popular beach with a large expanse of golden dunes.

    Then spend the afternoon at Tintagel Castle and immerse yourself in history, myths and stunning scenery.  The castle is closely linked with the legend of King Arthur and the dramatic castle and coastline have inspired writers and painters for centuries.

    Arrive and settle into your accommodation.

  2. Day 2

    Start your day by visiting the Eden Project.  Dubbed the Eighth Wonder of the World by some, the Eden Project is a dramatic global garden housed in tropical biomes that nestle in a crater the size of 30 football pitches.

    Then head to Land’s End and discover a place of stunning scenery and outstanding natural beauty at the westernmost point of Cornwall.

    Afterwards, visit St Michael’s Mount, a rocky island crowned with a medieval church and castle.  The rock formations around the mount will allow you to see many of the geological features of Cornwall in a single location.

  3. Day 3

    Begin with a visit to the Lost Gardens of Heligan, one of the most loved and romantic gardens in the UK.  There are over 200 acres to explore, with lots of wildlife, a variety of plants and even a jungle.

    On your way out of Cornwall, stop at Cheddar Gorge and explore one of Britain’s most spectacular natural landmarks, with awe-inspiring cliffs and extraordinary subterranean stalactite show caves.

    Return to school.
