Overview

Iceland's unpolluted, pristine landscapes make it an incredible destination for Geography and school trips here are always highly memorable.  There is an unbelievable variety of features, including boiling mud pools, spurting geysers, glaciers, waterfalls, volcanoes, lava flows, ash deserts, mighty rivers and stunning coastlines.

We offer itineraries with outstanding educational content, covering topics such as: coastal processes, cold environments, plate tectonics, climate change, environmental change, sustainable energy, fluvial systems, managing natural hazards, tourism, rural and urban environments, and ecosystems.

Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Morning flight to Reykjavik (Keflavik Airport).

    Start your Icelandic experience with a dip in the world famous Blue Lagoon to witness and experience the effects of geothermal activity.

    Then board your private coach and make your way to your accommodation.

  2. Day 2

    Golden Circle daytrip

    Set off for Þingvellir National Park where the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates is clearly visible.

    Follow this up with a visit to Strokkur geyser, a very active fountain geyser which shoots boiling water up to 40 metres into the air every 5 minutes!

    Then finish the day admiring Gullfoss Waterfall, which consists of two steps of 11m and 20m, each made of hard volcanic rock that resists erosion. On a sunny day the glacial meltwater tumbling down the 32m chasm truly looks golden!

    Optional extra: Explore the magnificent lava tunnel Raufarhólshellir, one of the longest and best-known lava tubes in Iceland.

    Then, finish your busy day with a visit to Perlan Exhibition. You can see, hear and feel the power of volcanoes, earthquakes and geothermal energy! Plus, there's a planetarium where you can spot the northern lights!

  3. Day 3

    South Shore daytrip

    Start the day visiting Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, where it is possible to walk behind the cascade via a footpath at its base.

    Next, admire Skógafoss Waterfall, one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland! In the distance you will see Iceland’s most famous volcanic glacier, Eyjafjallajokull, which erupted in the summer of 2010.

    In the afternoon, you will visit Sólheimajökull Glacier, where students can clearly see the dynamics that shape the movement, volume and shape of glaciers.

    Then walk along Reynisfjara, an ethereal black sand beach and admire the striking basalt formations.

    Finish your daytrip at the village of Vik before returning back to your hotel. It is the southernmost village in Iceland, surrounded by beautiful valleys, beaches, cliffs and mountains.

    Optional extra: it’s possible to add a hike on Sólheimajökull Glacier if you would like to walk on the glacier!

  4. Day 4

    On your last morning in Iceland, spend some free time visiting Reykjavik, the world's northernmost capital!

    Flight back home.
