Overview

Experience Andalucía, a region which has the unmistakeable flavours of both Islamic and Christian influences running through its winding streets! Mountains and forests decorate panoramas from hilltop palaces, and with a delicious variety of food options, there truly is something for everyone. Walk though history in mosques and palaces which stand remarkably intact, centuries after attempts to erase their existence.

You’ll have the opportunity to visit traditional Islamic places of worship, spot buildings with clear Moorish influence, and experience all this area has to offer in its shopping streets and markets!

Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Flight from the UK to Málaga, with coach transfer to your accommodation in Granada.

    Today you will be able to explore Calle Reyes Católicos, the main shopping street in Granada before heading for an evening meal for the group!

  2. Day 2

    Start the day by visiting UNESCO World Heritage site, Madinat Al-Zahra, a fortified palace-city that was once the beautiful capital of Islamic Spain.

    After lunch, head on a guided tour of Córdoba visiting the Mezquita de Córdoba, a Cathedral telling the tale of its turbulent past through its impressive architecture.

    Then, head into the Jewish Quarter which retains its traditional urban layout of a medieval Islamic city, built up of winding narrow streets.

    Before heading back for dinner, grab a photo at the Alcázar de los Reyes Christianos!

  3. Day 3

    Grab a snack in Mercado San Augustin, the perfect place to practice your Spanish before heading into Granada’s medieval Moorish quarter, Albaicín, a UNESCO World Heritage site!

    The Mirador de San Nicolas is next on the agenda, providing the best panoramic view of the Alhambra.

    Next, visit the Mosque of Granada, the first mosque built since the 1400s and one of only two functioning mosques across Granada. You will then have some time to relax in Granada Old Town afterwards.

  4. Day 4

    Your final day starts with La Alhambra de Granada. The Alhambra is incredibly impressive; a fortress, palace and World Heritage site all bundled onto a hilltop.

    Next, wander amongst the formal gardens, fountains, and peacocks in Parque Carmen de los Mártires.

    Your final stop before you head home is Palacio de la Madraza, once the site of the Muslim School of Koranic Law, founded by Yusuf I in 1349.
