Munich Science and Technology

Overview

Munich’s reputation as a hub of innovation is long-established, and a number of research institutes (including the famous Max Planck Society) have their headquarters here.

Our Munich Science and Technology itinerary is perfect for sixth form students considering degrees in Physics or Engineering. Students will have the opportunity to take part in a hand-on workshop at the Photon Lab, and to explore the real-world application of engineering theory at the BMW Plant.

Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Flight to Munich.

    Transfer to accommodation, and free time to settle in and explore Marienplatz, the city's main square.

  2. Day 2

    Start your day with an exciting journey into the world of BMW!  The visit includes a guided tour of the BMW Plant, and the BMW Welt and BMW Museum where you can gain a real insight into the company, brand and product history.

    Round off your day with a trip to the top of the Olympic Tower.

  3. Day 3

    Experience a hands-on workshop at Photon Lab. This high-tech laser laboratory was designed specifically for secondary school students to dive into the world of research and experiment. 

    Then, head to ESO Supernova. From a fulldome planetarium to a modern and interactive exhibition with 13 different themes, guided tours and workshops. Perfect for groups who love looking at the stars and reaching for them! 

    Afternoon in the sprawling Englischer Garten, with its unique Japanese Teahouse and Chinese Tower!

  4. Day 4

    Visit the world-famous Max Planck Institute for Physics! Your tour includes a discussion of particle physics, a visit to the Institute’s exhibition and a visit to some of the Institute’s large-scale experiments.

    Grab some lunch at the Viktualienmarkt, a popular food market with exotic delicatessens and al fresco cafés.

    Visit the Deutsches Museum, the world's largest museum of Science and Technology!

    Depart Munich for your return flight home.
