Oxford and Harry Potter

Overview

Walking around historic Oxford you almost feel Harry, Hermione and Ron right behind you in some magical parallel universe!  Oxford locations (Christ Church College, the Bodleian Library and New College) famously feature in many of the early Harry Potter films helping to create the iconic gothic backdrop that became the unmistakable Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry!

A real highlight of this tour is the visit to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London.  The behind-the-scenes walking tour truly immerses pupils into the world of film-making and gives them the opportunity to discover authentic sets used in the making of the Harry Potter™ film series. 

Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Depart school. 

    Arrive at the Warner Bros. Studio for The Making of Harry Potter Tour.  Enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the sets used in the film!  Walk on the famous cobbles of Diagon Alley, featuring the shop fronts of Ollivander's wand shop, Flourish and Blotts, Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, Gringotts Wizarding Bank and Eeylops Owl Emporium.  Step inside the actual Great Hall and explore Dumbledore’s office.  Enter the Gryffindor common room, the boys’ dormitory and Hagrid’s hut. 

    A programme of educational workshops is also available to complement the Studio Tour - let us know if you'd like to include one of these in your visit! 

    Arrive at your accommodation for an overnight stay.

    Optional evening activity: enjoy a game at a local bowling alley!

  2. Day 2

    Spend a day in Oxford and pay a visit to the iconic Christ Church College.  Many of the scenes in the Harry Potter feature films are shot in various locations of the College and, as you walk around the cloisters and quadrangles, it is easy to see why!

    Enjoy a picnic lunch on Christ Church meadow, one of the most famous outdoor spaces in Oxford and the top picnic spot in the city!

    Journey back to school.
