Trip Overview

Suitable for Secondary Schools and Primary Schools
This trip gives the opportunity to visit working farms and small artisan workshops with the chance to try lots of famous culinary specialties. Delicacies such as Camembert cheese and the cider brandy Calvados are produced in the area; visits to a biscuit factory and traditional bakery are very popular.
A trip to Normandy wouldn’t be complete without a walk across to the sand to visit the iconic Mont Saint Michel. The medieval monastery perched on the mount is now a UNESCO world heritage site.

Our Suggested Itinerary
Day 1 - Diverse Normandy
Leave school in the evening and take the overnight Portsmouth-Caen ferry crossing (alternatively, your group could take a shorter Dover-Calais crossing and travel in the daytime, arriving in the evening).
Day 2 - Diverse Normandy
Visit the Museum of the Bayeux Tapestry, and see the huge tapestry depicting the Norman conquest of 1066!
Learn about the impact of WW2 on Normandy at the Mémorial de Caen and Musée du Débarquement Arromanches. These museums give a great insight into the lives of soldiers in this area.
Day 3 - Mont Saint-michel
Take a guided walk across the sand to the iconic Mont Saint-Michel, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The monastery sits on top of the mount and is one of Normandy’s most stunning features.
Day 4 - Honfleur
Spend some time in Honfleur, a picturesque port and enchanting town which served as inspiration to many Impressionists.
Visit a traditional French bakery, where your students can learn about making bread and croissants (free samples included!).
Day 5 - Biscuiterie les Sablés
Enjoy a biscuit making workshop at Biscuiterie Les Sablés d'Asnelles and have the opportunity to find out about local artisan life.
Travel back to the UK.
Accommodation
We use a wide selection of accommodation throughout Normandy, mostly to the 2* standard - all specially suited to the requirements of our schools.
Our schools often choose to stay at one of the school hostels run by the Union Normande des Centres Maritimes et Touristiques (UNCMT). All accommodation we use is audited, and our auditing regime is verified by independent experts.
