This one day trip to the Somme follows the events of the Battle of the Somme, where the greatest loss of human life in modern British warfare occurred in one day.

Go on a guided tour that will take you to some of the sites where the battle took place and give you the chance to visit memorials that commemorate the lives of those who fought and died.

Afternoon
Go on a Guided Tour of the Somme Battlefields. A fantastic guide will take you to some of the Somme’s most important sites.
Stops can include the Lochnagar Crater, the largest surviving crater on the Western Front, the Thiepval Memorial, the largest memorial to the British Missing and the Newfoundland Memorial, remembering the Canadian soldiers that lost their lives in the Battle of the Somme.
Then visit the Somme 1916 Museum to explore the realities of life as a soldier during WW1. This unique underground museum is built within an authentic wartime air-raid shelter.
OR
On your way back towards Calais, stop off at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, a tribute to the Canadian Expeditionary Force members who were killed in the First World War.
