Number 48 Doughty Street was an important place in Charles Dickens' life.  Two of his daughters were born here and some of Dickens' best-loved novels were written here, including Oliver Twist and Nicholas Nickleby.

The Museum was opened in 1925 and has become the home of the world's finest Dickens-related collection.

Day 1 - Charles Dickens' London

Morning

Depart school and travel to London.  

Explore the house where Charles Dickens lived!  Here, students with learn about Dickens' life, times and writings through the museum's many resources.  There's a variety of different visits on offer here, and the activities can be tailored to suit Key Stages 1-4, through to A Level.  Let us know if you'd like to include a workshop or educational session and we'll suggest the most appropriate option for your group. 

Afternoon

Take part in a walk through the evocative streets of old London, with a guided Dickensian London walking tour.  The walk includes sample readings of Dickens' works and a visit to this favourite tavern. 

Journey back to school. 

Accommodation
