From the Pankhurst Centre, a museum saved by, rebuilt by, and run by women, to a relaxing yet unforgettable river cruise, there is plenty to experience in this vibrant major city. Try your hand at campaigning, including trialling some graffiti-chalking, a technique used by suffragettes to get their voices heard before taking a walking tour of key sites in the suffrage story.
Witness history in front of your eyes in the People’s History Museum where Suffragette banners and posters reside. Plus, you can opt to take part in a workshop to create a banner of your own, understanding the unity and solidarity they can inspire. Leave your students with the first-hand knowledge of how citizens can influence decision-making in their communities and how collective action can shape history.

Explore Emmeline Pankhurst's old home, now The Pankhurst Centre, with a guided tour of the museum which is dedicated to the suffrage story.
Next, take part in an interactive workshop about campaigning techniques used by the suffragettes. Take a look at media sources from the time, or try some graffiti-chalking, a method of getting women's voices heard!
Now it's time to explore Manchester itself with a guided walking tour. Focusing on the Pankhurst family, WSPU's founding and key city sites, this walking tour will take you through the streets and history surrounding you.
Decompress with some leisure time at the Piccadilly Gardens, a park situated right at the centre of the city.
Head to your accommodation and settle in before enjoying a group meal.
Day 2 begins with breakfast at the accommodation.
It's now time to head to the People's History Museum, the national museum of democracy. Featuring suffragette banners and posters, get a front-row view and be empowered by the past!
Try your hand at banner-making in this Banner-Making Workshop. Working with a professional artist, your students will get the opportunity to make a collaborative banner to take with you. Understand first-hand how banners can encourage unity and solidarity, as well as how citizens can influence decision-making in their communities.
Next, enjoy a break at The Quays, a waterfront area full of lunch and shopping spots!
Finish your time in Manchester with a river cruise, taking a scenic route to offer a fresh, unforgettable view of Manchester's industrial past and dynamic present.
