From interactive exhibits and IMAX screenings at the National Science and Media Museum to handling elephant skulls at Leeds Discover Centre, this tour aims to cover multiple areas of STEM.

This tour could easily be done as a daytrip, depending on the location of your school.  We could also combine your STEM visits with other cultural visits nearby, have a look at our Yorkshire itineraries for some ideas.

Our Suggested Itinerary

Day 1

Depart school by coach.

Begin your trip with a visit to the National Science and Media Museum.  Explore the transformative impact of image and sound technologies on our lives in this innovative museum dedicated to the science and culture of light and sound technologies.

Afterwards, take a trip to the Thackray Museum of Medicine and get to grips with the science behind disease, and the state of public health when Victoria was on the throne – clue, it wasn’t very good!  Whilst there, students can take part in an educational workshop tailored to their age.

In the evening, relax and unwind with a game of tenpin bowling followed by a pizza buffet!

Day 2

Start your day with a workshop at Leeds Discovery Centre, the state-of-the-art museum storage facility, home of 1.2 million objects.  From elephant skulls to a medieval log boat, mummy bandages and meteorites, the Discovery Centre offers a unique opportunity for hands-on exploration into the natural world. 

Round of your trip with a visit to MathsCity Leeds where students can explore and discover the wonderful and surprising world of mathematics with over twenty interactive exhibits.

Return to school by coach.
